East Africa has a new BET Award. After Eddy Kenzo’s triumph, our neighbours in Tanzania now also have the bragging rights of owning a BET award after singer Ray Vanny bagged the 2017 Best International Viewers Choice Award.
Our own Eddy Kenzo bagged an award in the same category in 2015.
Ray Vanny received his award at a special awards ceremony, a day before the main gala and he was elated, thanking his WCB Wasafi Records boss Diamond Platnumz for everything he has done for him.
“Yo guys, we did it. Thanks everybody who voted for me. My brother Diamond Platnumz, I know you are waiting for this. This is not mine bro, this is yours because you sacrificed yourself for me. Yo my brother. This one is for you. Thanks a lot BET Awards, this means a lot to me,” he said.
Ray Vanny is the artiste who collaborated with Diamond on the Salome (Wanchekecha) remix.
The main awards gala is on this Sunday at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles California and the Ghetto Kids are set to raise Uganda’s flag when share the stage with French Montana.
