Former Lord mayor aspirant Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee claims 2016 was a “terrible’ year to be a Ugandan artiste. In a short interview with Urban TV about the overview of Ugandan music through the year, he stated that no Ugandan artiste should claim to have heard a successful year.

“There was no successful Ugandan singer in 2016. None”, he stated. The veteran artiste claimed the prominence of Nigerian music all over radios and clubs overshadowed Ugandan music thus there is no reason for any local artiste to celebrate about the year.

‘Nigerian music is everywhere! Sometimes, I even don’t recognise whether I am in Nigeria or Uganda”, he complained.

2016 saw Ugandan artistes like Bebe Cool, Kenzo and Sheebah receiving nods in MAMA awards while Unique and Cindy bagged international  awards and several artistes had chart topping songs and held successful concerts.

The singer turned politician suffered defeat in his attempt to become Lord Mayor. He was trounced by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. His short political career had gone on a massive start after defeating former minister Francis Bbabu in NRM primaries.
